My Family Weekend is back this year for the second running! An initiative organised by the Families for Life Council (which I am a part of), it kicks off this Friday, 31 August in conjunction with the Teachers' Day school holiday and lasts all the way until Sunday, 2 September.
The objective of My Family Weekend is simple - to make time for our family and celebrate family bonding through the many activities happening this weekend. As schools and pre-school centres will be closed on 31 August due to Teacher's Day, kids will have no school so a growing number of employers have already pledged their support to put in place family-friendly workplace options on this day to support family time.
But more than that, there are plenty of events taking place this 1 and 2 September weekend - ALL OF THEM ARE FREE! - so it gives you the perfect reason(s) to bring the family out!
THINGS TO DO ON 31 AUG, FRIDAY
Kick things off on the right note on Eat With Your Family Day
Now this is one event you can organise on your own! Since last August, Eat with your Family Day has increased its frequency to four times and is held on the last Friday of each quarter. Remember to leave work on time and have a good meal together with your family!

Have fun while giving back to the community at The Giving Family Festival 2018

This September, The Giving Family Festival is back! An initiative of TOUCH Community Services, the carnival celebrates the spirit of giving back as One Community. At the Festival, you can play together with your loved ones and develop intergenerational bonds – all while giving back to society! The young and young-at-heart will be able to enjoy carnival rides, engage in a nerf-gun battle, enjoy live performances, and take part in fun workshops on decorating jumbo cookies, learn to play the ukulele, or how to sign. PAddles on WaVe 2018 is a combination of water and beach lifestyle sport carnival. Participants are free to try any lifestyle beach sports namely: Kayaking, Stand Up Paddling, Windsurfing, Inflatable Foam Pool, Inflatable Castle, Beach Yoga for just $5 per session. Only registered participants will be allowed to attend the try-out on a 1st come 1st served basis. Do turn up early as limited slots are available.
