Arts in Your Neighbourhood returns this March & here are the monkies' Top 10 Family-friendly Picks! + GIVEAWAY

Advertorial

Arts in Your Neighbourhood (AYN) is easily one of the monkies' (and my) favourite arts events! Simply because the performances are not confined to sitting down in a theatre or keeping all hushed while watching the show.

Instead, AYN brings fun and enriching arts experiences right to your doorstep, into your neighbourhood! Past editions were held in the estates of Yishun and Jurong, and feature a series of free and enjoyable arts activities by established artists and arts groups.

And the great thing about the festival is - it does not matter whether you are catching an arts performance for the first time or a seasoned arts-goer. Packed with entertaining, fun and interactive performances and activities, AYN is a great way for everyone to experience the arts in your very own hood. Have I already mentioned that ALL programmes are FREE of charge? Some require pre-registration but they remain free to everyone this season.

For this March's edition,  AYN travels to northern Singapore to rediscover the neighbourhood of Ang Mo Kio, with activities happening from 8 to 25 March 2018. Great for the ongoing March School Holidays and beyond!

FUN FACT: Once a cluster of rustic kampungs, farmlands and markets, Ang Mo Kio was characterised by criss-crossing streams, joined by bridges (kio in Hokkien). Rambutan (ang mo dan in Hokkien) trees were also abundant in the villages. These possibly gave rise to the name “Ang Mo Kio”.

With a line-up of nearly 50 arts and cultural activities, ranging from dance, music and theatrical performances, to interactive visual art installations and hands-on activities, happening at 16 locations across the island, there is something for everyone and all ages - including six new works have been specially commissioned for this edition!

But as always, I have picked out the 10 most happening art events for you and the kiddos to enjoy:
