No comments :
Media Invite

If your kids (or you) are fans of Cartoon Network shows, this is one cruise that you cannot miss!

The world's FIRST Cartoon Network-theme cruise will set sail from Singapore in the fourth quarter of this year and will feature some of the world’s most famous cartoon characters - from Ben 10, The Powerpuff Girls, We Bare Bears, Adventure Time and many more.

A joint partnership between Oceanic Group, Asia Pacific's leading cruise management company and Turner, the global media giant behind Cartoon Network, the ship is named Cartoon Network Wave and features Jake the Dog as the titular character spanning across the cruise facade.

I think the monkies are already sold the moment they saw photos of Cartoon Network Wave!

Weighing more than 50,000 tonnes, Cartoon Network Wave features 800 fully-themed cabins and suites, including two of the world’s first triplex suites. Be spoilt for choice with 11 decks of shopping, relaxing, partying and excitement with a variety of leisure and entertainment options.

For sure, kids will never be bored on Cartoon Network Wave. Not when there are these highlights onboard to look forward to:

Night Glow Party
From retro nights to circus shows to foam parties, groove with The Powerpuff Girls, We Bare Bears, Teen Titans, and many more at its thematic Night Glow Parties.

Rope Adventure Park
It’s Adventure Time! Kids can get their adrenaline pumping as they join Jake and Finn in navigating an elaborate rope course!

Power Cage
This is not for the faint-hearted: expect to get an overdose of ChemicalX – for X-treme factor – with gravity-defying circus acts certain to leave jaws dropping.

Young Tooniverse
Young Tooniverse features indoor and outdoor spaces for kids aged 4 to 12 to explore, play and join in the merry activities along with their favourite Toonixpals!

Bravo’s Place
Score a date with Johnny Bravo in this classic American Diner and enjoy traditional American fare.

Indoor Herb Garden
Step inside the cosy herb garden and be greeted by the aroma of basil, rosemary, thyme and other fragrant herbs. You might even bump into Chowder gathering some herbs for his next recipe!

The Cartoon Network theme continues right INTO the rooms too! With four types of rooms available, all of the cabin rooms will be decked out in an array of styles that will delight any Cartoon Network fan. And speaking of rooms, Cartoon Network Wave will be home to the world's first Triplex Suites on the high seas!

Each suite comes with two bedrooms, a Jacuzzi, a family lounge... PLUS a fun play corner that will get ALL kids excited. Best of all, it doubles up as a third sleeping area!

YES, THERE IS A SLIDE IN THE SUITE! Kids can reach the lower floor via the slide! Oh man, even I want to go on that! LOL.

Cartoon Network Wave will be docked at the Singapore Cruise Centre and will sail to 13 popular destinations in the Asia Pacific region including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Australia and Japan. Dates and itineraries for its routes around Asia Pacific will be announced in the coming months. Online bookings for Cartoon Network Wave will start later in the year. More details will be released on the Cartoon Network Wave website.

Nothing like powering up for a cruise holiday with the kids along with the stars of We Bare Bears, Adventure Time, Ben 10 and The Powerpuff Girls, eh?

Disney On Ice celebrates its 25th Anniversary this March School Holidays with one Spectacular Show! Maybank Cardholders enjoy up to 15% off tickets!

No comments :
Advertorial

With the new school term in full swing, there is only one way to make school term more bearable - by planning activities for the kids during the March School Holidays!

And if your kids (and even you) love all things Disney, then the March school holidays is that time of the year when Disney On Ice skates its way here! Whether it is Mickey & Minnie Mouse, Cinderella, Nemo or the Frozen gang, Disney stories are timeless and, this year, Disney On Ice features one show with 14 stories and more than 50 of your favourite Disney characters in one spectacular ice show.

The amazing thing about Disney on Ice is that each production of the show is new EVERY SINGLE YEAR. And with this year being Disney On Ice's 25th anniversary in Singapore, you can be sure that this year's show will be nothing short of spectacular!

Oh and speaking of anniversary, our first Disney On Ice experience dates all the way back to 2006 when Ash was slightly over a year old! So cute right?

Time truly flies... and this year, we will all be catching this year's show which is aptly named 'Disney On Ice celebrates Everyone’s Story'. Because ‘Everyone’ has a personal ‘Story’ of their first Disney On Ice experience.

Produced by Feld Entertainment, and celebrating the silver anniversary of Disney On Ice in Singapore, the show features more than 50 unforgettable Disney stars, a sing-along score of melodious masterpieces, stunning choreography, beautiful costumes and intricate sets.

The mouse-ter of Ceremonies Mickey Mouse, sweetheart Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy will take to the ice with their friends from favourite Disney movies that span decades from Pinocchio to Frozen.

Then, travel to the heart of Africa with Disney’s The Lion King, join in for an adventure in friendship with the gang from Disney•Pixar’s Toy Story and watch in amazement as Belle breaks the Beast’s curse in the tale of Beauty and the Beast. I also heard that there will be a musical montage where the entire Disney royalty skate to songs like “I See The Light” from Tangled and “A Whole New World” from Aladdin!

And of course, what's an ice show without Frozen, no? The show will also have a special appearance by royal sisters Anna and Elsa from the number one animated feature film of all time, Disney’s Frozen. Enter the magical kingdom of Arendelle and journey up the North Mountain with hilarious snowman Olaf and rugged mountain-man Kristoff, as they help the sisters discover that true love conquers all.

And no matter what you do, DO NOT BE LATE for the show as it will kick off with a special pre- show with Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde of Disney’s Zootopia enticing the crowd to help solve an off-ice caper that must be cracked for the on-ice action to begin!

18 Short Getaways with Kids for 2018 Long Weekends

1 comment :

The new year is upon us and we all need some holiday planning to see us through months of work, no? I know I do!

The bad news is there are not too many long weekends this year. Only three of them, in fact:

Chinese New Year (16 & 17 Feb 2018; Fri & Sat)
Good Friday (30 Mar 2018; Fri)
Hari Raya Puasa (15 Jun 2018; Fri)

BUT the great news is a large number of public holidays fall on either a Tuesday or Thursday... which means all you have to do is to take ONE day leave to enjoy a FOUR-day holiday! Not too shabby at all.

Labour Day (1 May 2018: Tue)
Vesak Day (29 May 2018; Tue)
National Day (9 Aug 2018; Thur)
Deepavali (6 Nov 2018; Tue)
Christmas Day (25 Dec 2018; Tue)

So as an annual tradition, I have expanded my travel list to EIGHTEEN getaway options this year - all of which are good for a either 3D2N or even 4D3N stay with the family. Of course, all of them are family-friendly, bursting with activities to keep the kids occupied!

Once again, it is time to take out those calendars and plan away!

1. Sinar Eco Resort
(Johor, Malaysia)

Who says one needs to fly to Australia for a farm stay? Located in Pekan Nanas in Johor, Sinar Eco Resort is about one hour's drive away from Tuas Checkpoint. Not only can one stay in rooms constructed out of shipping containers, the resort is full of farm animals that kids can pet and feed. There is no better place where kids can come face to face with chickens, geese, horses, rabbits, cats, dogs, cows and goats.

Nestled in the quiet tranquillity of an oil palm estate, the resort newly opened in May 2016 and provides the perfect atmosphere for families to embrace the countryside. There are a total of 8 air-conditioned containers in all, and each consists of a queen-sized bed, safe, TV, refrigerator and private bathroom. For larger groups, book the apartment rooms which come with FOUR bedrooms each.

Family-friendly?
The resort is split into two main areas which are separated by a gravel road. One area houses the accommodation and cafe while the other larger area is home to all of the farm animals and activities. If your kids adore animals, they will go absolutely bonkers here. Even better if they love FEEDING and CUDDLING animals! Besides the animals, families can go kayaking along a river, as well as taking a dip in its sheltered swimming pool.

2. The Canopi
(Bintan, Indonesia)

Just a one-hour ferry ride from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal and 5 minutes away from the Bintan jetty lies a cluster of uniquely designed safari tent-suites which offer camping at its glamorous best! Glamping (Glamorous Camping) is offered at Canopi via three types of air-conditioned tents: Safari Tent Suites, Lagoon Tent Suites (with views of the Crystal Lagoon) & Jaccuzi Tent Suites (with Lagoon views AND an outdoor Jacuzzi!).

The two-hectare resort is a wonderland for nature lovers as it is surrounded by bountiful bodies of water including a private mangrove river and an absolutely gorgeous crystal lagoon. The latter is the largest crystal lagoon in South East Asia, and is filled with filtered salt water, with NO waves at all - perfect for kids!

Family-friendly?
Where do I begin? If the kids get bored with jumping into the crystal clear lagoon, they can relish in the resort's offerings of numerous water activities including cable ski, stand-up paddle, water tricycles and kayak rentals. Or they might fancy scaling an inflatable climbing wall at the Floating Watersport Park!

Land activities include zipping around on a two-wheeler Segway, rough-roading around the forest area in the UTV and ATV or for the kids, there are always the oh-so-cute mini ATVs to ride around the resort.

3. Club Med Bintan
(Bintan Island, Indonesia)

Looking for a holiday where you can just kick back, relax and let the kids do all the planning of the activities? Then Club Med Bintan is the holiday resort you should be booking. The pioneer of an all-inclusive holiday where all meals, drinks and activities are included in the booking price, Club Med Bintan is just a short ferry ride from Singapore.

From treating yourself to a beautiful spa perched on the rocks, or gliding through the air on a flying trapeze overlooking the sea, or honing your land and water sports skills, I would recommend at least a 3-night stay to truly experience what the resort has to offer.

Family-friendly?
Kiddos can be packed off to the Mini Club Med (4-10 years old) or Junior Club Med (11-17 years old) where they will enjoy a full day's worth of activities while parents can chill the day away by indulging in their own activities as well. Come every evening, there will be a night show and dance segment where everyone will be encouraged to join in the revelry. Kids can even order all the mocktail bar counters!

4. Telunas Resorts
(Riau Islands, Indonesia)

Combining the sun, sand and sea in an all-inclusive resort with full comfort and no airport time, Telunas Resorts is all about long days at the beach - building sandcastles, fishing, paddling in a kayak, without the distraction of technology. The Telunas Resorts is made up of two parts - Telunas Beach Resort and Telunas Private Island. For a more economical option, head to the family-friendly beach resort. Rooms are built over the sea so that when night falls, guests hear the gentle ripple of waves beneath the room.

Family-friendly?
Take your pick from the many nature-centric activities. Laze on the stunning beach where low tides are perfect for swimming, even with infants, as the waves are mild. Families can also go on a Jungle-Waterfall Trek, Mangrove River Tour, Low Ropes Obstacle Course, or simply experience the thrill of jumping from the dock into the sea.

5. Sunway Lagoon
(Selangor, Malaysia)

Sunway Lagoon should be familiar to almost everyone - it is a 5-in-1 theme park which is home to a Theme Park, Water Park, Wildlife Park, Extreme Park and Scream Park. Make that 6-in-1 now because the Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon has newly opened in Sunway Lagoon last year! Being the first Nickelodeon themed attraction in Asia, it is a must-go if your kids are fans of Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon is home to colossal water rides, water playgrounds, canopy walks and meandering pathways. Set amidst 10 acres of lush tropical rainforest and boasting 14 immersive attractions, Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon promises to be an kid explorer’s dream right from the start. Okay, make that an adult's one too!

Climbing “ancient temple” steps, explorers will pass pineapple columns and intricate carvings leading all the way up to a magnificent SpongeBob SquarePants structure. The adventure continues with geysers, sprouting water cannons, walks along cascading falls, and gooey moments with the signature green slime!

Family-friendly?
With 6 theme parks to cover to cover at Sunway Lagoon, how can one get bored? In fact, I would say one day is hardly enough! Accommodation-wise, choose from three options - Sunway Resort & Spa, Sunway Pyramid Pyramid Hotel and Sunway Clio Hotel. All three are located beside the theme parks, and connected to the humongous Sunway City shopping mall.

6. Bintan Lagoon Resort

Perched on the magni cent Pasir Panjang Beach, overlooking the majestic South China Sea, Bintan Lagoon Resort is a tropical paradise, home to sun, sea, and two spectacular golf courses. This Indonesian-style 470-room resort is HUGE and comes with a private beach that stretches nearly 1.5km.

Located three hours from Singapore - 2.5 hours drive from Singapore to Tanjung Leman jetty and a 30-minute boat ride to Pulau Sibu, Rimba Resort offers the perfect place to relax without the usual resort frills.

That's right: NO aircon, NO hot water, NO TV, and NO WiFi. But what you do get are 21 charming seafront chalets all within a stone’s throw away from the resort's 350m private beach. And the beach will be where the kids will be spending most of their time there, thanks to the gorgeous house reef. Trust me when I say the monkies had never seen so many clown fish in one single snorkel session. In fact, they they begged to snorkel every single morning... and afternoon!

18. Weekend Cruise

There is no chance of cabin fever setting in while on a cruise ship; not when it is actually a massive floating entertainment palace in disguise. Absolutely fuss-free travels, going on a cruise is easily the best way to take the exhausting travelling leg out of a weekend getaway as it requires minimal planning.

Cruise lines departing from Singapore include Star Cruises, Royal Caribbean International, Costa Cruises, Princess Cruises and Dream Cruises.

Family-friendly?
Whether it is a two-night cruise to nowhere, or a longer cruise with ports of call at Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi, kids will be spoilt for choice when it comes to the jam-packed range of activities on board a weekend cruiser. And while the kids are busy, parents can simply chill, relax and feast.
