It's (FREE) Slime Time: What to Expect at Nickelodeon Slime Cup SG 2017 this weekend

Getting drenched in icky and green SLIME may not be everyone's idea of having fun. But try telling that to the monkies... AND probably the thousands of kids and teens too!

Somehow, Nickelodeon has made it ultra cool for the young (and young-at-heart) to get covered in Slime. Well, it certainly helps that homemade slime is all the rage nowadays among the kids in schools!

This weekend, it is time to get all Slimy once again as Nickelodeon Slime Cup SG 2017 returns for its fifth edition at City Square Mall! Presented by Singtel TV, the two-day FREE-ENTRY event will be held on Saturday, 15 July and Sunday, 16 July 2017, and is set to be bigger and better than ever. 

*15 July is reserved exclusively for Singtel customers across Mobile, TV and Broadband while 16 July is open to everyone.

This year, Nickelodeon is recruiting Super Slime Fans at the Slimiest integrated sports festival, so expect plenty of kid-friendly activities, from stage games and photo-taking sessions with beloved Nickelodeon characters, to crazy fun game stations - topped with a healthy dose of Nickelodeon’s trademark green Slime, of course.

The monkies attended last year's edition and as you can tell from the photos, they had loads of fun. Ale, in particular, was thrilled to snag a photo opportunity with characters from her current fave Nickelodeon show, PAW Patrol!

Psst... this year, my sources tell me that a new PAW Patrol member will be joining the photo-taking sessions. So if your kids are fans of SKYE, be prepared to watch them go wild.

Besides the photo-taking with characters, the monkies tried out the various game stations too. Top fave? It has got to be the one where they got to hammer each other at the Joust station. After all, it's not every day that they get to hit one another without being punished. LOL.

And what's a Slime Cup event without getting all Slimy, no?

Unsurprisingly, the Slime stations were the ones that saw the longest queues because it seemed that every kid wanted to be Slimed. Ditto for the monkies. In fact, they are such great fans of the green slime that they were overjoyed to get Slimed once again when we visited Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon at Sunway Lagoon last December!

Slime stations last year included a seated one where you had to pull a lever for the Slime to drop down and another one where kids whizzed down a slide into a pool of Slime. Check out all the fun the monkies had in the short clip below:



So what is in store for Slime Cup SG 2017?

1. For starters, the Slime stations get a major upgrade! I cannot exactly reveal many details because Nickelodeon wants to keep them as a surprise. But I have seen the artwork and let me just say the kids will want to try them out again and again... because which kid will not want getting sloshed with slime in a giant washing machine, sliding and gliding through slime, and showing off stealthy ninja skills in an obstacle course?

2. Can't get enough of Slime? Head to the Slime Salon where kids can deck out in Slimy face paint, or sparkly Shimmer and Shine face patterns, or selected character tattoo designs.

3. What is a Nickelodeon event without photo-taking sessions with your favorite characters? Take part in the stage games and win passes to pose with favorite Nickelodeon characters like SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and PAW Patrol!

4. Head to the Pine-App-le Pit where kids can try out the Nickelodeon Play app to view Nickelodeon episodes on the go, and discover endless mystery items and surprises.

5. Whatever you do, be sure to grab a Training Card before getting started on the training stations! Kids can collect a stamp upon completion of each game station. Gain a certain number of skill stamps and they earn the honor of being a certified Nickelodeon Super Slime Fan, as well as the chance to bring home some Slime in exclusive Slime Cup goodie bags (only for first 200 kids per day).

6. If you are heading down this Saturday, catch the All Star Initiation Ceremony at 12pm with performances by percussion group, MOTUS, and a rare appearance by SIX Nickelodeon characters on stage! Or if you prefer, join in the fun at the Closing Ceremony on Sunday at 6.15pm where there will be special character appearances and a group Sliming of Super Slime Fans!

7. Oh and here's a BONUS TIP: Kids can unlock a Mystery Gift by becoming a Nickelodeon Super Slime Fan! All they have to do is to complete certain tasks before heading down to the Slime Cup SG 2017 event. Some of the top requirements include wearing orange to the Nickelodeon Slime Cup, bringing an extra set of clothes and downloading the free Nickelodeon Play app.

Already, the monkies cannot wait for this weekend! More so for Ash, because he missed it last year due to a school event. Guess it is time to get all Slimy once again then.... perhaps, I may join in the Slime fun this year too!
