If The Grandstand (formerly Turf City) is a favourite haunt of yours, great news - KIDZLAND, a new indoor playground, has sprouted on its premises and from first impressions, it has plenty of play structures to keep the kids entertained.
It was actually an accidental find though. I was out with Ale for an event with the boys being confined at home due to the impending mid-year examinations. After the event, we decided to head to The Grandstand for a quick bite and once Ale caught sight of the entrance, there was no turning back.
Located right beside PasarBella, KIDZLAND spans over 12,000 square feet and consists of 2 portions: an indoor playground and an arcade centre.
The Forest indoor playground is a jungle-themed one, and recommended for kids between three and 12 years of age. The main play area consists of a three-level climbing structure with various obstacles, tunnels and slides to get through.
Admission charges start from $16 and $20 for a toddler and child respectively, with free entry for one accompanying adult. For now, play time is UNLIMITED though I do not know if that will change once the soft opening period is over.
One of the focal points at the Main Play Area is the mini Carousel area, where kids will be able to hop on for a good spin.
And what's an indoor playground without the mandatory air guns that blast out foam balls?
For the hyper-active kids, there is also a mini rock wall for them to show off their climbing skills.
But the most unique - and most instagrammable - portion of the indoor playground has got be this.
The Rainbow Net is a huge 2-level climbing net structure that kids will have a fun time ascending. Even I could not resist the colourful play structure. To get into the net, one has to crawl through a hole at the bottom... and yes, I could fit myself through (after some wriggling, of course).
The entire indoor play area is well padded so no worries about the kids falling and hurting themselves while running, jumping or climbing themselves silly.
Have kids that find the indoor playground childish? A massive arcade centre forms part of KIDZLAND and comprises of all the game machines that you can imagine.
Like all other amusement arcades, the attractions here operate on a pay-as-you-play basis via a top-up game card.
Besides the usual arcade and claw machines, kids can go on a carousel ride ($5 per ride) as well.
Or they can hop onto the Star Speed car ride ($6 per ride) which can move forward, backward and rotate 360 degrees!
See the short video below for more playground and arcade action:
In addition, there are other play areas within KIDZLAND which constitute separate charges. We did not have to time to try them out though. These areas include 'The Beach' ($5 for 30 min) which is a sand play area with projection images which the kids can interact with and 'Magic Pen' ($5 for 10 min) where kids can doodle on touch screen tables and have their artworks projected on a giant screen.
Did Ale enjoy her impromptu play session at KIDZLAND? Definitely. Me too actually, since I had the opportunity to spend some one-to-one bonding time with her. Overall, it's a great place to let the kids run and play themselves silly... and parking is free too! :)
