A-to-Z Reasons Why My Wife is Awesome-Possum
What are the chances of finding that someone who really complements you? As much as I strive to be the best Dad I can be to my monkies, the truth is that I don’t - and can't - do it alone. I am fortunate enough to have my wife as the ultimate co-parent and I could not have asked for a more supportive, loving, kind and generous partner.
Since today is her birthday, I thought I’d take a moment to celebrate it by writing a little bit about what she means to me. So here are all the A-to-Z reasons why my wife is awesome... and I am truly a lucky guy indeed.
A
Amazing. As cliché as it sounds, she is an astounding daughter, wife and mum.
B
Beautiful. 13 years of marriage and, I am still physically and emotionally attracted to this woman.
C
Chef. She knows the way to my and the monkies' hearts with her home cooking (and baking!) during weekends. Delish!
D
Decisive. She makes the decisions when I can’t.
E
Energy. Even though sometimes her job saps every ounce of energy from her, she still revels in taking on multiple roles of a chef, referee, doctor, counsellor and teacher to the monkies.
F
Family first. Family is always her top most priority.
G
Genuine. She is extremely nice to everyone, always putting everyone at ease with her good nature.
H
Human. She carried a human inside her for 38 weeks. And she did it THREE times! Woah.
I
Influence. She reminds me to always see the good in everyone, especially in our monkies, and to appreciate them for the human beings that they are.
J
Jolly. When she laughs, it is impossible not to laugh with her. And when she simply smiles, I smile too because it is intuitive.
K
Kind. Pretty much a no-brainer if you ask me.
L
Loyal. This is one of her greatest qualities and I know she has always got my back.
M
Mum. It is what she is called at home. It is the name she was given for the first time in 2005. It is also my favourite part of her.
N
Non-pretentious. She does not pretend to be perfect, but strives to be better than the day before.
O
Optimistic. She sees the silver linings within the clouds and reminds me to do the same.
P
Patient. She's the complete opposite of me when it comes to this. Enough said.
Q
Quick to forgive. This woman doesn't bear grudges one single bit.
R
Reliable. I know I can always depend on her and yes, I am not afraid to admit it - even when the sink or toilet bowl clogs up.
S
Sacrifice. From the seemingly inconspicuous act of letting the monkies eat that extra xiao long bao to frantically clearing her work after the kids have gone off to bed, she has made so many sacrifices to ensure that she spends every minute possible with them. Even at the expense of her sleep.
T
Thankful. She is thankful for the smallest blessings in life, and easily contented - a trip to Melaka or Penang will bring her just as much joy as a holiday to Australia - as long as it is enjoyed with the family.
U
Understanding. Arguably the best person I could have asked for as a soul mate. She understands me like no other... and also that in this adventure known as parenting, we are always a work-in-progress.
V
Very... everything! Very loving, Very caring. Very sweet. She challenges me to become a better husband and father by showing me how to better communicate with her as well as with the monkies.
W
Wife. The woman I met, fell in love with, married, and made me a Dad. The woman I will grow old with.
X
X-Ray Vision. For some strange reason, she knows exactly what is on my mind.
Y
YOLO. You Only Love One. That's because I am so lucky to be hers and to be able to call her mine.
Z
Zest for travel. From road trips up north to going off the beaten track, she is the best travel companion that I and the monkies can ask for.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, wifey! You are not perfect but I will always love you because you are perfectly my soulmate – and that’s more than enough for me.
