Ayd's Final Chapter with heART Studio... Or is it?

And so, it has come to an end.

Ayd's classes at heART Studio, that is. It seemed only a short while ago that he began his art lessons and now, his 10-week journey has been completed. Along the way, the wifey and I had seen the positive impact that his weekly art lessons had on him, which he was only too happy and enthusiastic to attend.

For his Young Van Gogh class (for older kids between 7 and 12 years old), a piece of art work usually takes 5 weeks to materialise as the children will be taught first to sketch in their journal book. And for this particular project, Ayd was tasked to complete a portrait drawing of a dog.

Not too shabby an effort, eh? Of all the sketches in the world, I personally find that portrait sketches of either a person or an animal to be the most daunting. Of course, he was given pointers along the way as to how to make the sketch more life-like and these pointers clearly showed their usefulness come the following week.

Somehow, the dog looked very 'DUH' to me. Hahaha... but the next sketch when Ayd transferred his portrait to pastel paper showed a remarkable improvement.

But nothing could have prepared the wifey and I when he showed the final product to us in the fifth week.

How amazing is that???

I have to give credit to the team of dedicated teachers from heART Studio, all of whom are professionally trained in art. Ayd's teacher, Gaz, is incredibly passionate, lively and most important of all, patient when it comes to breaking down the concepts of brushstrokes and blending of colours into bite-sized information for the children.

So it came as no surprise that Ayd was visibly dejected when he learned that his term at heART Studio had ended. In fact, I spied his eyes turned a little watery when I broke the news to him! 

So yes, we have decided that we will continue his weekly art lessons at heART Studio in July... right after the June School Holidays. :)

One pass is good for children aged between 3 and 6 years old, where the Nature Composition holiday class will allow them to learn how to draw forms using shapes and lines, while being taught using the techniques of painting, mixing of colors and color harmony and contrast at the same time.
