With the past weekend being a long weekend, Daddy & Mummy had to rack their brains really hard and think of a place where we could run amok. (You see, we don't exactly go well with confined spaces... specifically our home.)
And so, we headed down to a yet unexplored territory.
Woodlands Waterfront - a 1.5km long waterfront promenade with a 9-hectare park and a refurbished jetty.
But we all know what the main attraction was for us monkies.
Yup, a gigantic climbing structure complete with a cobweb-like layout never fails to get us excited.
But Daddy always has to throw a spanner into the works, and make us pause for photos first.
Once the green light was given, watch us scamper up the netting!
The difference with this structure and other spiderweb-like structures like the one in West Coast Park is that, it consists of several towers with connecting rope bridges.
And at the end of the series of rope bridges, therein lies a vertical tunnel to bring us back to the ground.
Ooh, exciting stuff that's for sure!!!
Nothing like a cylindrical rope ladder to hone the monkies' climbing skills. Hee hee...
And what of mei-mei during all these while?
She had her own (amateur) playground for younger kids to keep her occupied.
Which di-di briefly tested it out as well.
And he must have enjoyed himself too, because I was alone atop the climbing structure for a brief moment.
Yup, most definitely I reckon.
Well, he soon joined me back on the summit soon enough though.
Truth be told, Mummy had always been terribly afraid whenever we made up way up on such a structure - actually more for di-di because erm, he is the clumsier one.
But I guess practice makes perfect, as both of us are now pretty quite adept in scurrying up and down the ropes. :D
I don't know when will mei-mei be allowed to join us in our climbing expedition though, but what I do know is that she is one mean eating machine.
Even at the playground, she requested for her 'mumm-mumm' and gladly devoured her grapes while watching us in action.
Having lost the number of times that di-di & I were up on the rope bridges, we were finally contented to bid farewell to the playground.
Well, thirst was primarily the main factor actually.
We then walked over to the refurbished jetty to catch some cool sea breeze.
And from where we were, we could clearly see some of the buildings in Johor Bahru across the Straits of Johor. And as Daddy discovered, his mobile reception conveniently auto-roamed and switched to Maxis! Luckily he didn't check in through Facebook there. Heh.
Di-di & I then took the opportunity to brush up on our photography skills - with Daddy's DLSR no less! And I was up first.
Daddy may have been smiling, but I think he was actually very worried for his precious DSLR.
And I estimate his paranoia shot up a few notches when it was passed to di-di's hands.
Luckily, no mishap occurred.
Which explained the happy faces all around. Heh.
We enjoyed our time at Woodlands Waterfront, greatly helped by the presence of the huge climbing spiderweb of course. There were lots of people fishing along the jetty as well, so if fishing is your thing then perhaps it's a good place to try it out.
Daddy feels that West Coast Park with its eight types of play areas probably offers more in terms of playable fun variety. You can check out our West Coast Park experience here: http://cheekiemonkie.blogspot.com/2011/07/west-coast-playland.html
But we certainly wouldn't protest if we are back soon!

Must make a trip to Woodlands soon, after reading Isaiah and now your review :)
Nice place! Love your blog and going to bookmark it! ^_^
Cheers,
Phoebe
Yes Andy, must make a trip down to let your kids review it too. Hee hee... Although I personally still prefer the West Coast & Pasir Ris Parks.
Hi Phoebe,
Thanks again for dropping by! :D
Guess we would have met if we had went for the Candle Night event last Saturday. Hope there'll be chances next time!
Seems like nothing much to play for a child under 2yo.
Hi lenghoi,
Thanks for your comment.
I agree that there is nothing much for a young toddler, though there is still the mini playground meant for small kids. Also, you can take a stroll along the waterfront.
