The school holidays may be over - yes *groan* I know - but having fun when the weekends roll along need not be. And if you thinking of bringing your children to somewhere lively (and air-conditioned, no less) with free snacks, free games and free prizes to win, then the Volkswagen Centre at Alexandra is the place to be this weekend.

Volkswagen Family Weekend is back on 29 and 30 March (Sat & Sun) 2014 and everyone is invited! There will be free flow of corn cups and hot dog buns to keep those bellies happy, while kids can test out their driving skills at the Tricycle Park, or just simply flash monkie faces at the Instant Photo booth.

But those will not be the most interesting bits - Children visiting the Volkswagen Centre at Alexandra will be tasked to participate in a Treasure Hunt and look for 5 Teddy Bears that will be hidden in 5 Volkswagen cars around the showroom.

And since I am feeling generous, I will give you 2 hints where these Teddy Bears may be hiding. One of them can be found squirreled inside the brand new Touran Comfort 1.6 TDI.

The Cat A 7-seater MPV now comes with a 1.6L TDI Clean Diesel Engine, which combines solid driving power with low fuel consumption and emission levels. In fact, I have been told that it can travel up to 1,300km on a single tank! Coupled with a longer service and maintenance intervals, all these simply translate to more savings for your pocket.

But one aspect that will sure to translate to more fun for my monkies will be the panaromic sun roof that the Touran Comfort 1.6 TDI is equipped with!

I took the Touran TDI for a spin and was pleasantly surprised at its excellent ride quality and superb refinement. The ride is supple and composed at almost all speeds, while the turbocharged engine performs its task of excellent acceleration.

Equally a worthy ride, I had a great time test-driving the Passat 1.8 TSI (*hint*hint*) as well.

The Passat has all the features that one would come to expect from a German-engineered sedan, such as a powerful TSI engine, 7-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG), Keyless Entry and Start-stop System, Hands-Free Park Assist, Fatigue Detection, Reverse Camera and the one thing that most families would want - a large boot space.

Simply put, the Passat is quiet, refined, economical and a perfect companion for eating up a few hundred of kilometres in a week.

But as a parent of young children, safety when it comes to ferrying them around in a car inevitably ranks high on my list. So the key similarities which I find very important for the Touran and Passat are that they have 6 airbags installed and obtained the Euro NCAP 5-star safety rating.

Now that you too have your 2 hints safely in the bag, all your child needs to do is to hunt down the remaining 3 hidden bears. Just remember to first collect the Teddy Bear Treasure Hunt Card at the counter when you arrive before going on your teddy bear hunt. Each teddy bear will carry an interesting fact about each of the cars, so use that to answer the 5 questions on the card. Once completed, submit it to the counter and redeem a surprise gift.

That's it - No purchase required, and definitely no other strings attached.

As for the surprise gift, I can reveal that it will either be a LEGO toy or a Volkswagen premium, depending on availability. My guess is the LEGO toys will be the ones running out first, no?

But that's not all. All completed cards will be eligible for a grand lucky draw, where one lucky winner will walk away with these prizes worth $500 in total!
