The Importance of Imagination

(Daddy blogs)

Today is a bright and sunny day.
I went to play football with my friends. We had fun.
Then we drank water and went home.

The end.

If you thought that watching grass grow might possibly be more exciting than reading the above passage, you are not alone. But the truth of the matter is, it is exceedingly tough to fire up the boys' imagination when it comes to essay writing.

So if you are in the same predicament as me and wish to find out more tips on how to encourage imagination  in your kids at home, do come on down to The Arts House this Sunday (26 May 2013) at 5pm for a Creative Writing Workshop.

In collaboration with Monsters Under The Bed, we are honoured to be the event partner for 'The Importance of Imagination' - a 2-hour workshop that will get the kids to create their very own characters in a story, while parents can find out how to fire up their kids' imagination even further!

Here's briefly what is going to happen during the workshop: The kids will start first by learning more on character creation. There will be handouts for each child and everyone will go through it together as a class. There will be some free writing time with parents helping their children, and this should take about 1.5 hours. The final 30 minutes will be about how parents can encourage imagination in their children at home.

And the cost of the workshop? It's FREE! No registration is required. Just come on down with your writing materials and soak in all the fun! *Workshop is recommended for primary school-going children. More details are in the poster below.

See you peeps!

Hi Carol,

I've checked with the speaker and yes, u can! But the first 1.5 hours will be hand-on activities for the kids first though.

Hi Anon,

It's for kids aged 7-12, and parents can sit in too. I realised I forgot to put in a brief summary of what is going to happen during the 2 hour workshop. I've updated the post with the details already. Hope it helps! :)

Sounds like a great event to attend, I missed out the one organized by the library cos I was 'out-registered' by other parents for such first come first served programs, not fast enuf:) I wished there's something like this for Chinese writing too.
Thanks for the info, adding this to my planner:)
