Finding a great quality children's shoe is hard to do sometimes. For one, we parents want our kids to have shoes that are good for their feet. And if I'm being greedy, stylish as well.
Enter the New Balance Premus KV100 range.
The New Balance Premus KV100 is brand new range of shoes targeted at infants and kids which offers them the natural barefoot feel and the ground contact to help encourage them to be active.
New Balance Singapore had kindly provided a pair for Ale so that I can review them. And when we were down at the New Balance Concept Store for a shoe fitting, the little Diva swiftly decided on the colour of her new shoes.
Right off the bat I noticed how lightweight these shoes are. The last thing I would want is for her to be dragging two blocks of bricks when we are walking outdoors.
And while we are on the topic of walking, how many times have we seen our kids fall down as a result of their shoes?
The New Balance Premus adopts flex grooves to assist children’s feet to flex naturally. The toe box area is in the shape of a fan to ensure there is enough space for the toes. In addition, it is designed to be soft and flexible with a slight curve upwards so as to prevent tripping!

The other aspect that New Balance had kept in mind when designing the shoes for kids is the adoption of a shoe last that will not hinder growth of children’s feet. Instead of the traditional kids’ footwear which has a heel drop of 8mm, New Balance Premus is only at 4mm to promote greater ground contact and be more responsive to the different terrain.
So I guess it's safe to say that Ale adores her new pairs of shoes. All I have to do now is to draw up her marathon training schedule then.
The New Balance Premus KV100 Infant range is retailing at $59 while the Kids range retails for $69. Go try it out for yourself at all New Balance Concept Stores!
