(Daddy transforms & rolls out)
The Transformers are finally coming! And thanks to Hasbro, Resorts World Sentosa & Strategic Public Relations Group (SPRG), I was given the opportunity to sneak a peek at the Cybertron Con 2012 one day before the doors open to public.
Admittedly, almost all of the media present were Transformers geeks too and I wasn't any different. So imagine the 'oohs' and 'aahs' once we were let into the Compass Ballroom.
The Autobot/Decepticon Intro Zone will be the first zone one will come face to face with the good & evil, and one must also choose the one of 2 paths - Autobot or Decepticon.
I chose purple. Heh.
Then, an astounding collection of Transformers toys await as we stepped into the Retrospective Display of all Transformers toys spanning its 28 year history. And we began with where it all began - Generation 1 (or G1) in 1984. When I was a fascinated 8 year-old.
The extensive exhibit will take fans through the chronological progression of Transformers, from G1 to the most recent Transformers movie franchise. With enough toys on display to induce heart palpitations in every Transformers fan.
And since it was still a work-in-progress, we got to see how the toy figurines were being set up in the display cabinets as we were led through the history of Transformers.
And this particular series, Transformers Animated, was where it all began for my 2 older monkies. They first came into contact with Transformers through this animated series and the rest is history.
Hopefully, they will also look back with a great sense of nostalgia in 28 years' time.
And if you are craving for some hands-on action, there will also be Game Stations set up, where one can experience the 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' video game.
Kids would also be glad to learn how to draw Transformers with renowned artists in The Art Room, or indulge in the newest Transformers animated series - Transformers Prime and sneak peeks in the Hasbro 3D Mini Theatre.
I heard there will also be My Little Pony clips (!!!) to cater to the girls as well. Heh.
A cool feature of the Convention would be this KRE-O Augmented Reality Interactive Zone.
One need only to stand in front of the screen and he/she will see himself/herself captured 'live' on the screen. Then Bumblebee would interact with the person by initiating a dance-off with him/her. Ayd will definitely love this!
As for Ash, I reckon he will go totally bonkers over THIS.
A life-sized 22-feet Optimus Prime statue.
So I took a photo with Optimus first, just to make Ash jealous. :P
And to further enhance that Transformers experience, one can't go wrong with tons and tons of Transformers-related merchandise, including a Transformers Cybertron Con 2012 exclusive - the Limited Edition Optimus Prime with Trailer (USS Transformers The Ride)!
And throughout the 4 days of convention, there will be other activities such as Panel Sessions with Hasbro & Takara Tomy experts and a National 'Fastest Fingers First' competition where one will compete to be the fastest in transforming toy figures from 'robot' to 'vehicle' mode and back.
But for now, there will still be hard work to be put in to ensure that all will be perfect for the convention's Grand Opening.
I shall leave you with some of the more interesting Transformers alternate forms that are on display. Like this Nike shoe Transformer.
Cool huh? It fetches a hefty sum by the way.
Or how about these Disney Transformers?
Donald-bee, Opti-mouse Prime & Buzz. Cute eh?
